Deep-Dish Cookie Pie
by chocolatecoveredkatie
(gluten-free!)
- 2 cans white beans or garbanzos (drained and rinsed) (500g total, once drained)
- 1 cup quick oats (or certified-gf quick oats)
- 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 3 tbsp oil (canola, veg, or coconut)
- 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 and 1/2 cups brown sugar (EDIT: click for a Sugar-Free Cookie Pie.)
- 1 cup chocolate chips
Blend everything (except the chips) very well in a good food processor (not a blender). Mix in chips, and pour into an oiled pan (I used a 10-inch springform pan, but you can use a smaller pan if you want a really deep-dish pie.) Cook at 350F for around 35-40 minutes. Let stand at least 10 minutes before removing from the pan. (Some commenters have had success with a blender, but I did not. Try that at your own risk, and know the results will be better in a high-quality food processor such as a Cuisinart.)
Inspired by this popular recipe:
Healthy Chocolate-Chip Blondies.
(Calorie Note: I haven’t calculated the calories for this recipe, but a few of the commenters did. According to their calculations, the pie will have around 200 calories per slice, as opposed to 700 in a slice of traditional deep-dish cookie pie.)
Everything about this feels wrong. And sexy.

Hello again! So first, this isn’t a virus or anything, but I wanted to submit this video again because this Series focuses on Young Americans all around the USA and their experiences and for the second episode in the second season, they are talking about Asian American experiences.
It is a lot of general statements and stuff but I still find it very useful for our dialog about race and the Asian identity specifically in America.
And a lot of these kids are of mixed race so it is interesting to see their perspectives too!
Here is the link if you need it: http://youtu.be/MoC3HrDsJ5A
mod note: This is great video. I’m getting a lot of diaspora feels right now. I’m not even mixed-race and I’ve been asked if I am adopted, presumably because my name is not very Asian or Hispanic-sounding and I speak English with no accent. *sigh*
This is one massive reality check, folks.Watch.
This.
YES WATCH THIS!
It’s only a few minutes long, but holy shit is it terrifying.
And yet, it’s not even surprising. It’s exactly what you would expect.
This is really old, but it’s making the rounds again. So, I’m reblogging.
But honestly, who is this made for?
Black people know this already. Brown people know this already. These are facts of reality.
This is clearly for White people… and I’m so tired of trying to prove to White people what’s around them everyday. I really am. We got a damn mountain of evidence…. statistics, stories, everything you can possibly have and yet here we are, still trying to prove how White people make our lives living hell while how many Black and Brown people are in jail????
I’m just over it.
I totally feel where other bloggers come from when they say they don’t feel the need to teach White people anything. I’m gonna have to start doing that… ‘cause it just feels like an unwinable battle.
It’s like we can’t move the conversation along to the next step ‘cause the majority of White people absolutely refuse to see what happens around them everyday.
They definitely do this. That’s why it’s damn near impossible to talk to white people about racism, b/c even with facts presented to them they will deny it. The other day there was an article online clearly showing that while whites do the same amount of drug (specifically marijuana) Black people are arrested more often. Inthe comments there were a whole slew of whites saying of course Black people must have been arrested in conjunction with some other crimes, we have lower IQs, we need to go back to Africa if we’re so upset. And these comments got hundreds of up votes, and these were only the first few comments, as I couldn’t bare to look anymore.
Whites will continue to deny facts presented to them, because they need to believe they are superior to Black people, no matter how “not racist” they believe they are. Since birth, white people (and all ppl tbh) have been trained to believe they are the superior race, they have all “worked hard” for what they have, and racism is over. To them, it’s in the past, and the media, educational system, and general public back up this notion. So they are able to go along believing this even when presented with the truth b/c they don’t live it.
